EVs ARE ALREADY EVERYDAY LIFE FOR PIONEERS IN FINLAND
Minister of Economic Affairs received a procession of more than 50 electric vehicles on a sunny April afternoon at Senate Square in Helsinki. EV drivers and people involved in EV and charging business in Finland had gathered there to show that for the pioneers electric driving is already a reality in Finland. Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Jan Vapaavuori received approximately 50 vehicle electric car parade on 29th of April at 1330 Senate Square. Minister Vapaavuori stressed in his speech that the time is right to promote electric mobility.
- On a larger scale the benefits of electric cars will be realized perhaps on the 2020s. On the other hand the change is important to start now – otherwise, we find it difficult to keep up with the development, the Minister said
Mr Vapaavuori also believed that Finland is getting ready for electric cars, but more cars are needed. - Much has been done. The biggest accomplishment to date is rapidly evolving electric vehicle charging network. And the pace just seems to pick up, the Minister predicted.

Electric Vehicles Assembly in Helsinki on 29th of April – Join Us!
Electrictraffic.fi -project will be organizing EV and Plug-In Hybrid Driving Event & Assembly on Monday 29th of April in Helsinki. The Driving Event – open for all EV and Plug-In Hybrid drivers will start at 12:00 p.m. At 1:00 p.m. all vehicles will arrive at Senate Square for an Assembly to which everybody interested in EVs and the services they need is welcome.
Electric Traffic at Senate Square will gather together companies, organisations and individuals operating and being interested in electric vehicles on a hopefully sunny Helsinki spring afternoon beginning at beginning at 1:00 p.m. The actual EV & Hybrid Driving Event will start one hour earlier at 12:00 p.m. from a place-to-be-named-later in Helsinki. EU requires EV charging infrastructure construction
Long-expected EU’s draft directive for clean transport infrastructure has been published. It includes country-specific obligations of EV charging network construction. Finland will be expected to build a total of 71 000 charging points including 7 000 public ones.
All in all, European Union will propose the construction of more than 8 million chargingin points within its member countries. Ten percent or 800 000 of these will be public charging points. There has been a project for constructing national EV charging infrastructure and several projects developing new charging technologies and services going on in Finland.

Mobile app helps to find charging points – Android-version available
Finland’s public electric car charging points can soon be found with the help of a new free mobile application, which will be published in the near future for Android, iPhone and Windows phones. The Android version of the application is available already at Google Play Store.
Finland’s public electric vehicle charging points have been collected in a single database. Soon this information will be available for all via a free new mobile phone application that will display the nearest charging points and helps application user to navigate to the desired point. LUE LISÄÄ

Direct subsidies for Brammo electric motorcycles in Finland
Finland is subsidizing electric motorcycles as a part of national electric vehicle subsidy package worth 10 million euros (US$ 14 million) and targeted to companies. While several different electric cars & plug-in hybrids qualify for the subsidy, Brammo is the only electric motorcycle that is accepted by Finnish authorities. LUE LISÄÄ
